Principal's Message

Julie Andrews - BVPS Acting Principal

We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands. We pay our respects to all First Nations elders, past, present and emerging.

Thank you to all those people who have participated in the 5 cent fundraising drive. As well as being an important fundraising event, it is also giving the students a lot of pride and satisfaction to be able to do something to help the school. Funds will be collected until the end of term and students bringing 5 cent pieces go in the draw to win a prize.

The Broadmeadows Valley Primary School 2021 Annual report is now available. It can be found on the school’s website or ask at the office if you would like a copy.

Child Safe Standards

Broadmeadows Valley Primary School is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. This will be the primary focus of our care and decision-making. Broadmeadows Valley Primary School has zero tolerance for child abuse and is committed to providing a child safe environment.

School Tours

We are welcoming new enrolments for prep in 2023 and we are offering a tour of the school for parents interested on 1pm Wednesday 13th July, 2022. Please encourage anyone who may be thinking of enrolling prep students for 2023 to attend and enrol early.

Respectful Behaviours within the Community

When parents, carers and school staff work together as one team, our students do better. Everyone at school, particularly staff and parents/carers, play a role in making school a better place for learning and work.

Parents, carers and school staff have a relationship that can last many years. This is an opportunity to work together to create a positive relationship in the best interests of the child. When this relationship is built on respect and trust, students learn better and feel like they belong in the school. Every member of our school community has a right to feel safe and be protected.

The Department of Education and Training has released the Respectful Behaviours within the School Community Policy that describes the positive behaviour expected from parents, carers, and other adults in Victorian school communities. The policy sets clear standards of behaviour to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for students, staff and adults.

For more information on how to engage positively with our school, please contact Julie Andrews, Acting Principal.

Road Safety

Congestion around the school continues to be an ongoing problem, and it was recently brought to my attention by a community member that there have been some unsafe situations on Dimboola Road at pick up time. Whilst School Council will continue to advocate for better parking solutions, in the interim we all need to play our part to make sure all the students are safe. Please consider the following options:

  • Consider parking (legally) several blocks from the school zone and walking to meet your child. This can have the added benefit of giving your child the opportunity to exercise.
  • Always approach the pedestrian crossing slowly – never run onto or across the crossing.
  • Always pay attention to the traffic as you cross – never use your phone as you are crossing.
  • Always get off your bike or scooter and push these across the crossing.

    Thank you for your co-operation.
